DSI’s 2024-2025 Nominating Committee invites your nominee recommendations for DSI Officers whose terms will begin on May 1, 2025. All but the President-Elect will serve a two-year term. The following positions are open for nomination:

Qualifications:
1. Nominees shall be Regular Members of DSI in good standing with a membership with DSI for the last five consecutive years, or eight of the last ten years.
2. Nominees shall have demonstrated academic, professional service, and leadership experience and involvement with DSI and/or other academic or professional societies.

DSI Committees
DSI utilizes a number of standing and ad hoc committees to carry out the Institute’s mission and vision across multiple areas. Committee members volunteer their time to direct and implement the charges of these committees.
DSI Divisions and Chapters
DSI is committed to reaching an international community of scholars and
practitioners. As a worldwide organization, DSI is made up of three global
divisions, with chapters within each division.
Governance
DSI has established a governance system to foster and maintain a culture of integrity and accountability. These principles, plans, policies and procedures are applied across all divisions and chapters, as well as across all levels of membership.
Bylaws
The members of DSI voted in 2018 to approve a new governing document that combined the original Constitution and Bylaws into a single document.
Policies and Procedures
The DSI Policies and Procedures ensure compliance, provide a roadmap for operations and provide guidance for decision-making. The latest update approved by the Board was made in February, 2024.
Strategic Plan
The Board of Directors developed the DSI Strategic Plan 2018 – 2024 to map the organization’s direction over a five-year period. The Board of Directors continues to monitor and update the Strategic Plan as appropriate.
Code of Conduct
DSI is committed to upholding high standards of ethical values and conduct. The DSI Code of Conduct communicates our values, is a framework for ethical decision making, and provides a guide for ethical conduct for all of our members and stakeholders.

Growth and Impact Over Time
1968
A small group of faculty members representing a national cross-section of universities meets in Atlanta to lay the groundwork for an organization that encourages cross-disciplinary communication in the emerging field of decision sciences.
1969
About 100 charter members meet in New Orleans to hold the first annual meeting of the American Institute for the Decision Sciences.
1970
The Institute’s flagship journal, Decision Sciences (DSJ), launches and is now a highly respected publication among practitioners and academics. Midwest (MWDSI) becomes DSI’s first official Americas chapter.
1971
Three new chapters organize under the DSI brand – Southwest (SWDSI), Southeast (SEDSI) and Western (WDSI).
1972
Northeast (NEDSI) becomes the 5th Americas chapter.
1986
The name of the organization is changed to the Decision Sciences Institute.
1994
DSI’s global reach begins with the formation of the Asia-Pacific Division.
2003
DSI launches a second journal, the Decision Sciences Journal of Innovative Education (DSJIE) to publish research on teaching and learning issues.
2006
The Indian Subcontinent (ISDSI) is approved.
2009
Europe is added to the DSI portfolio with the founding of EDSI.
2019
DSI celebrates its 50th anniversary in New Orleans, home of its first annual conference.
2020
Qatar (QDSI) and China (CDSI) are approved under the APDSI Division. DSI hosts its first successful virtual global conference.
2021
DSI launches a new professional development magazine, Decision Sciences Insights, with focus on teaching and learning, research in the decision sciences, and professional development for students, faculty and practitioners. Data Analytics and Statistics Instruction (DASI) is formally approved with a charter as DSI’s first Specific Interest Group (SIG). ISDSI shuttered for rebuilding.
